Psalm 4:8 New Living Translation
In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.

My child was having loads of bad dreams. It was really upsetting her and when bedtime arrived she would get especially nervous despite all the comfort, and prayers of blessings over her sleep. We would reciting scripture about God keeping us in His hands, care, perfect peace, and giving us rest. We’d do all that we could as a family to stir up the faith to believe bad dream season would quickly end.

Last night in the midst of a bedtime routine with extra encouragement and cuddles I spoke inwardly a quiet nearly forgettable prayer that the whole house would receive good dreams instead. I haven’t dreamed in a long time and honestly it’s just not something on my usual radar. The next morning my daughter had urgent dream news; she began to tell me a dream full of interpersonal wisdom and discernment well beyond her young preschool years. I too had a dream full of hope for relational healing and great blessings for our family.

God, the author of dreams, creator of our body, mind, and our world put an end to bad dream season. The Lord intervened and answered my mustard seed practically not even there prayer! God saw us and heard me when I could barely hear myself and so sweetly, so creatively removed fear, changed our hearts, level of understanding and hope, and gave us back our rest. Thank you Jesus.

Psalm 91:4 New Living Translation
He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.

PRAYER: Thank you God that you are our protector and we belong to you. What a privilege to be in your family; you are kind, gentle, present, and even playful in your love and care for us. Thank you that you surround us with your blanket of peace and under your wings we are embraced and healed. Amen.
