Does God Care?

Philippians 3:13-14 New Living Translation
I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.

Zechariah 4:6 New Living Translation
This is what the LORD says: It is not by force nor by strength, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.

The simple places in our lives are of concern to God and He creatively cares.

An ongoing area of restoration in my life the past several years involves thinking more highly of myself. With a conscious decision to keep an upward gaze toward my source of worth, peace, and joy i become empowered to “think higher”. Thereby increasing the day to day level of hope and expectation of the goodness of God and his tender love for me specifically.

I am encouraged to reach forward not just with my might but with the Holy Spirit’s power to those things which are ahead therefor pressing upward in life and thinking.

What you believe is directly connected to how you believe.

A couple prayerful weeks were spent looking for the perfect kitchen appliance through a selling app. The appliance I wanted was researched and I knew I could get a great deal if I gave it a little time and patience. An appliance and then an interaction related to it became highlighted. A woman, we will call Sally Seller, was offering just what I wanted for years. It appeared to be just right and the price was fair. I saw others low ball offers so I offered more but still under her asking price. She never responded to me. I offered a bit more; still, no response. I sent her a message to determine if it was still available; the seller was waiting for someone to offer full price. She wants what she wants, I thought, we’ll see. After our conversation the seller increased her asking price by $10!

I was oddly prayerful through this process especially considering it’s just a kitchen appliance.

I continued to make offers to sellers that had items close to what I wanted; I’d lost hope and was settling. At one point I had committed offers to 3 different sellers and none were what I really wanted long term. My thought process, “well I’ll get what is close to what I want, try it, maybe sell later. Maybe I’ll get what I want some time in the future.”

Wow, this low thinking has been what God has been healing in me for years. I needed His intervention; Look how God moved!

I was notified Sally Seller’s appliance was sold and it sold at her new $10 higher asking price. As I prepared dinner that night I was impressed with her thinking. This is what I saw in the seller: “I’m gonna get what I want and not settle.” thinking “I will wait for what I want. I know what I am worth and even when offers are made I won’t get tempted.” I knew God was revealing ways for me to grow, think higher, and more highly of my self after this encounter. I thanked God for is loving presence in my life details and for His loving counsel.

Again, I gave this desired purchase to God. Before dinner was over, I received a notification the perfect just what I always wanted appliance, new, never used, in retail box and wholesale shipping box was just posted. Now I could buy the very thing I desired and in the very best condition for $35 less than if I had purchased from Sally!!! Yes, I grabbed it and praised God!

Does the creator of the universe need to help me purchase an appliance? Of course not. However he did. The mighty One wants to be involved with you and me. He desires a relationship. Real in the trenches of fixing messes, changing diapers, figuring out breastfeeding, surrendering junk food, or directions to your next location, job, or move. “Call to me and I will answer” “and show you marvelous things” and may I suggest one of the most beautiful things is that God actually cares for you and the details of your regular life.  Invite Him in. Talk to Him. If the voice in return is kind it is your creator.

For an individual looking for evidence of the tender practical loving presence of God I would like to encourage you to look, listen, and ask. God’s care is not aways flashy yet still intimately for you.
