Psalm 29:3-11 New Living Translation
3 The voice of the LORD echoes above the sea.
The God of glory thunders
The LORD thunders over the mighty sea.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is majestic.
5 The voice of the LORD splits the mighty cedars;
the LORD shatters the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf;
he makes Mount Hermonb leap like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the LORD strikes
with bolts of lightning.
8 The voice of the LORD makes the barren wilderness quake;
the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD twists mighty oaksc
and strips the forests bare.
In his Temple everyone shouts, “Glory!”
10 The LORD rules over the floodwaters.
The LORD reigns as king forever.
11 The LORD gives his people strength.
The LORD blesses them with peace.
Do you know you have a loving God that is for you? Really. God has strength, courage, and peace for you, yes, you. Does stuff happen that is a big bummer in this broken world filled with broken people? You bet! However, just as you want to be known and in relationships so does our creator. The bible is full of stories of God breaking into a situation to reveal His voice, His heart.
Examples of Gods Voice in the Bible
- He spoke to Moses as a friend. Exodus 33:11
- God spoke through a donkey to get a message to a stubborn frustrated one. 2 Peter 2:16
- God spoke to Sarah before she conceived in a miraculous old age. Genesis 18
- God spoke to Zechariah Luke 1:13 and his wife Elizabeth. Luke 1:41-42
- Mary.
- Of course Jesus continues to speak to us through his life written in the bible.
- Today friend, He still comes into our lives with His counsel, compassion, and supernatural abilities to comfort, heal, rescue, and restore on a personal level.
The broken places in our lives are of concern to God and He gives tender care.
Evidence of the tender practical loving presence of God is all around you. Sometimes the evidence is loud and powerful; sometimes it is quiet but wildly and intimately only for you. The mighty One wants to be involved with you and me. He desires a relationship. Real in the trenches of fixing messes, figuring out finances, directions, security, parenting, defining or healing relationships, career advancement “Call to me and I will answer” “and show you marvelous things”. God actually cares for you and the details of your exciting or regular life. Invite Him in. Talk to Him. If the voice in return is kind it is your creator.
